Story Thieves
I had gone to my friend’s house and found that he was busy with his tutions. Since I like reading books, his mother suggested that I read a book while waiting for my friend to finish studying. So I took a book called ‘Story Thieves’ from the bookshelf and began reading it. It was published in December 2015 by Aladdin. It is a few pages short of 400 pages and the genre is adventure. It is written by James Riley, a fictional name, it is not his real name and the man in the photos is actually an actor.
I believe that this book which was the first in its series was a very clever opener leaving readers breathless both with laughter and anticipation. Story Thieves is a great book for those who love adventure and magic. It tells the story of two elementary students, Bethany and Owen, and their magical traveling adventures into the world of books. Featuring numerous memorable characters and unforeseen plot twists, this book will keep you entertained for hours on end.
The plot goes like this: Owen is a normal school-going boy who finds life boring due to the daily mundane homework and other chores. But his life changes the day he sees his classmate Bethany coming out of a book. He gets to know that she was half-fictional and was searching for her lost father in every book she can. Bethany can’t tell any of this to anyone so Owen forces her to take him in his favourite Kiel Gnomefoot book series and only then he will not tell Bethany’s secret to anyone. He also offers to help her to find her father. She agrees and takes him into a story that hasn’t been released. The characters get to know they’re fictional and are someone’s imaginations and escape the book. So Bethany and Owen have to stop them together.
Will this destroy the Kiel Gnomenfoot series or/and force Owen to live out Kiel Gnomenfoot’s final (very final) adventure or reveal Bethany’s secret to the entire world?
The characters of this book are Owen, Bethany, Kiel Gnomefoot, his teacher the Magister, Charm, Dr.Verity and the author of the Kiel Gnomefoot series, Jonanthan Potterhouse. Owen and Bethany are the heroes of the book. Bethany even has the power to jump into books. Kiel also played an important role in the story. The Magister was a villain but it was not told until the last book. Dr. Verity was also a villain. Charm was Kiel’s robotic friend.
The plot gets chaotic as Owen and Bethany’s actions create a mess due to which readers face the challenge of understanding the events. By book’s end, though, Riley brings his interwoven levels of story to a conclusion that satisfies both intellect and narrative.
If you liked reading this book, I suggest you to read the next book in the series, which is Story thieves: The Stolen Chapters. I read a book like this which was called Pages and Co: Tilly and the bookwanderers. In that book also a girl could go into books. I recommend this book for readers of age 9-13.
